HOLZMARKT | Berlin, Germany
Holzmarkt is a constantly reinventing, creative urban neighbourhood on the banks of the Spree in Berlin's Kreutberg-Friedrichshain district. With the expansion of the central building area, the ‘Village’ will be supplemented by two further buildings, a guest house and a clubhouse. With Holzmarktstrasse behind it, the Village forms a playful urban ensemble of buildings with a view of the Spree. Under the motto ‘’Spree riverbank for all‘’, seamless public access along the green bank and the neighbouring areas is to be made possible and revitalised. In order to establish the riverside zone as a new ‘place to be’, the neighbouring nature and recreation trail will be extended and upgraded with a combination of play areas and experimental play installations. This will add an exciting component to the casual character and create a new type of park typology.
