Berlin „TXL The Urban Tech Republic“ bildet den Prototypen eines zukunftsfähigen Wissenschafts- und Produktionsquartiers. Auf dem Weg in die vierte Industrielle Revolution erfolgt eine enge Verzahnung von Innovation, Produktion und Energie in einem dezentralen, kleinteiligen und lateralen Gefüge. Das Thema „Second Life“ / „Second Chance“ wird als Ideen-Generator aktiviert, um unkonventionelle Vorschläge für die zukünftige Benutzung des Hauptterminal und des Loop (der alten Vorfahrt) zu finden. Gesucht werden also Methoden und funktionale Ansätze, wie die nun funktionslos gewordenen Infrastrukturen des alten Flughafens neues Leben eingehaucht werden können.

Für das Zentralgebäude und die massive ellipsoide Vorfahrt haben wir mehrere Varianten erarbeitet und näher beleuchtet. Alle Vorschlage gehen davon aus, dass die alte Umfahrt – der Loop – bestehen bleiben muss. Verschiedene Szenarien werden für die gigantische Zufahrtsrampe zum Terminal A vorgeschlagen: „Park“, „Sport Campus“, „monumentale Ausstellung“. Auch für die zahlreichen Balkone und Terrassen des Gebäudes werden mögliche Formensprachen und neue Nutzungen untersucht: „künstliche Landschaft“ die mit der ehemaligen Gebäudekubatur spielt, „Dschungelvegetation“, „Terrassengewirr“, „Solarium“ und viel mehr…

Berlin „TXL The Urban Tech Republic“ forms the prototype of a sustainable science and production quarter. On the way to the fourth industrial revolution, a close interlocking of innovation, production and energy takes place in a decentralized, small-scale and lateral structure. The theme „Second Life“ / „Second Chance“ is activated as an idea generator to find unconventional proposals for the future use of the main terminal and the Loop (the old right-of-way). Thus, methods and functional approaches pursued to breathe new life into the infrastructures of the old airport that have become functionless.

For the central building and the massive ellipsoidal right-of-way, several variants have been developped and examined in more detail. All proposals assume that the old bypass – the Loop – must remain in place. Different scenarios are proposed for the gigantic access ramp to Terminal A: „park“, „sports campus“, „monumental exhibition“.
