In einem Industriegebiet nahe der Innenstadt gelegen wird die neue Müllverbrennungsanlage ein architektonisches Icon und ein beispielhaftes Exemplar im Bereich des Ressourcenmanagements und der Energiegewinnung. Die mit allerneuesten Technologien ausgestattete Anlage ersetzt das benachbarte 40 Jahre alte Müllverbrennungsbauwerk von Amagerforbrænding. Mit dem Neubau sehen wir die Möglichkeit nicht nur das Gebäude als architektonisches Objekt zu entwickeln, sondern es auch zu einem attraktiven Ziel und Visionsträger im Umgang mit Industrieinfrastruktur zu machen.

Das Dach der neuen Amagerforbrænding verwandelt sich in ein 31.000m2 Skiparadies mit Pisten unterschiedlicher Schwierigkeitsgrade und neudefiniert für die Einwohner Kopenhagens und der gesamten Metropolregion Müllverbrennungsanlagen, indem sie existierende Freizeitangebote auf diese neue Sorte Industriestandorte ausweitet.Nördlich an das Gebäude anschliessend entsteht ein großes Parkareal, das sich mit seiner geschwungenden Topografie direkt die vom Dach kommende Skipiste anschliesst – wenn das Dach der Gletscher ist, dann ist der Park die grüne Almwiese!

Situated in an industrial area close to the city centre, the new waste incineration plant will be an architectural icon and an exemplary specimen in the field of resource management and energy production. The plant, equipped with the very latest technologies, replaces the neighboring 40-year-old Amagerforbrænding waste incineration plant. With the new building, we see the opportunity not only to develop the building as an architectural object, but also to make it an attractive destination and vision maker in dealing with industrial infrastructure.

The roof of the new Amagerforbrænding is transformed into a 31,000 m2 ski paradise with slopes of varying difficulty. Redefining waste incineration plants for the inhabitants of Copenhagen and the entire metropolitan region by extending existing leisure facilities to this new type of industrial site. To the north of the building, a large park area is being created with a curved topography that directly follows the ski slope coming from the roof – if the roof is the glacier, then the park is the green alpine meadow!
